SKY express announced that, as part of its immediate response to the emergency situation created by the recent devastating fires that hit the island of Rhodes, it has immediately mobilized a comprehensive support mechanism both at Rhodes International Airport “Diagoras” and at its bases in Athens and Thessaloniki, in order to continue simultaneously the transport and interconnection of passengers, special personnel (such as airmen, volunteers, rescuers) and essential goods.
In cooperation with the Municipality of Rhodes, institutions and a number of Non-Governmental Organizations, SKY express transported continuously with its flights to the island of Rhodes throughout the fires dry food, pharmaceuticals, mattresses, isotonics and water packages for distribution to the residents, visitors and firefighters who were working continuously to extinguish the fires.
Not left out of all this effort were the island’s pets (kittens and puppies), who were also tested by the fires, for whom SKY express organized the transport of the respective feed.
For more than a week, the SKY express cargo area in Athens and Thessaloniki received the humanitarian aid and the very important essentials, organizing their direct transport to the island of Rhodes daily with the company’s scheduled flights.
Along with the realization of all flights and the continuous interconnection and transport of passengers and all necessary goods to Rhodes, the staff of the ground handling company SKYserv, a company of the IOGR Group to which SKY express belongs, was reinforced with the addition of additional employees who went to the Rhodes station to facilitate and better serve all travelers and especially those who had lost their documents due to the fires.
All the human resources of the Skyserv ground handling company at Rhodes station created a supply chain under the most difficult conditions, facilitating and serving thousands of travelers in terms of procedures and human support.
