The Hellenic Air Force C-130, which took off from Elefsina in the afternoon, is due to arrive at Incirlik airport, near Adana, shortly after eight o’clock in the evening. The transport aircraft is carrying the first part of the aid promised by Greece to the neighbouring country as part of the relief effort following the devastating 7.9 magnitude earthquake that hit eastern Turkey.
The Greek mission has boarded this aircraft, which was prepared immediately after the Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, ordered to send all possible assistance to Turkey.
The mission includes a team of 21 firefighters from the 1st EMAK with two (2) rescue dogs and a special rescue vehicle. The team is accompanied by one (1) Fire Brigade Officer-Engineer with specialization in shoring in the ruins of collapsed buildings, five (5) doctors and rescuers from EKAB as well as the President of OASP, Efthymis Lekkas.
