For Goldair Handling, 2020 looked like a nightmare. After the best year in its history (in 2019) on a financial level, the collapse followed – due to travel restrictions brought by the pandemic – in the turnover of 40.96 million euros and 17.8 million in net profits. In terms of financial figures, for 2021, the year in which the gradual lifting of restrictions and the recovery of air traffic began, Goldair Handling saw a significant improvement in financial figures compared to 2020.
In 2021 turnover reached 70.09 million against 40.96 million in 2020, with the company recording a net profit of 17.8 million.
In 2022, the recovery of flights for the company presented a mixed picture, regarding the 4 markets in which it operates (Greece, Bulgaria, Cyprus and Switzerland).
The Greek market strengthened significantly during the 2nd semester, where in several destinations demand exceeded the record levels of 2019, while on average, the company recovered 91% of flights, recording, however, a significant increase (33%) compared to 2021.
At the same time, the tender for the plot of land Thriasio II, which is adjacent to “Thriasio I” whose contractor with a concession agreement, is THEK SA in which ETVA VIPE and the Goldair group participate. The area is expected to be shaped and transformed into a large logistics center, a modern center of combined transport and storage.
During 2022, Goldair renewed its operating license with AIA for the next 7 years, following an international competitive process, in the categories of aircraft handling on the runway, baggage handling, cargo & mail handling, as well as the service of passengers with disabilities.
Thus, Goldair Handling has activated its investment plan regarding the renewal of its fleet, with an emphasis on green energy, which will be gradually extended to the regional airports, while the new distinguished passenger lounge on the 1st floor of the area has recently been completed and is operating. Finally, according to its development plan, it established Goldair India and in collaboration with the Indian company LAS Ground Force Goldair – LAS is established, which, following competitive procedures, started its activity in 2 airports, Bagdogra & Udaipur , while it is already participating in other tenders to expand its network in India.
