Meeting between the commander of HCAA Dr. Christos Tsitouras with the presence of Diamantakos Constantinos, head of the General Aviation & Drones Department, and a delegation of the consortium of the European project 5D-AeroSafe which is coordinated by “Airbus” and Eurocontrol participates, took place yesterday, November 22.
The representatives of the consortium consisting of Messrs. Georgios Bogdos (technical director of the project and CTO of “Future Intelligence”), Gova Tasso (president of “Hellenic Waterways”) and Drakopoulou Fai (Head of Administrative Services of “Hellenic Waterways”) informed HCAA about the progress of the project as well as for the innovations that 5D-AeroSafe brings to Greece in the fields of security and management of Drones in complex environments such as waterways, airports and ports.
The 5D–AeroSafe project, selected by the Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport (DG MOVE) of the European Union, has as its main objective the application of innovative technologies to maximize safety in aviation, offering drone inspection solutions for airports, for systems air navigation of civil aviation, but also a special solution for waterways.
This solution is implemented for the first time at the European level and is implemented with the participation of Greek companies and universities. The end result will utilize Drones technologies as well as artificial intelligence techniques to present an integrated watercourse management system, which will maximize the safety of seaplane dockings and departures, minimize the administrative costs of operating the waterways and at the same time offer a complete operational picture to the managers of the Water Races.
The consortium that implements the project has the French “Airbus” as a coordinating member, while there is a strong Greek element as the companies “Future Intelligence” and “Hellenic Waterways” participate, as well as the “Hellenic Mediterranean University”. Also members of the Consortium are “ENAC” from France, “ITWL” from Poland, “Vicomtech” from Spain, “Airmap” from Germany, and the Spanish “Ferrovial” which will be the second finalist user of the project results and brings to the project the airport infrastructures it manages. Finally, “Eurocontrol” participates in the Consortium as a consultant and observer.
The consortium will work closely with HCAA, which will define the required regulatory procedures to ensure all the necessary conditions for the proper execution of the project’s pilot applications. The implementation of the project is expected to significantly contribute to the maximization of safety in the operation of waterways and airports, while at the same time it will expand the field of new innovative services in air navigation (U-Space Services).
