At least three companies have expressed initial interest for the construction of the new hotel that is planned at the airport “El. Venizelos” of Athens. In the summer, the airport’s managing company published a call inviting interested companies to submit non-binding proposals for the creation of the new 3- or 4-star hotel at the airport.
Now the deadline for submitting the binding offers with the selection of the schemes that meet the criteria of the tender process is expected. When the tender is completed, Athens International Airport intends to develop, through a concession, a new hotel of a lower category than the Sofitel.
The new hotel will be built on an area that is currently located in the long-term parking lot P3 and right next to the metro and commuter rail infrastructure. The area in question has a surface area of almost 7,500 sq.m.
THE hotel should be operated by a recognized company in the sector, with an international presence and expertise in airport hotels. Its capacity will be at least 250 rooms, offering suitable dining options, a gym and optionally meeting rooms and other spaces for business use.
The new hotel will be built using the concession method, that is, the contractor will undertake to build and operate the hotel, with the contract ending on 12/31/2045.
