Can you think of something more romantic than a thoughtful trip abroad? Airlines can and they are quick to express this. So, carriers around the world have been promoting special offers during the celebrations.
We’ve already seen several airlines show their affectionate side today. From Europe to South America, operators haven’t been shy to hint that a flight ticket is one of the best gifts that one can receive.
Yet, there have been certain airlines going above and beyond to provide a memorable experience for couples. For instance, Emirates has revealed a range of offerings for travelers to “sweeten their journey” while boarding with the Dubai-based carrier.
Along with a selection of romantic classics, including A Star is Born, Sleepless in Seattle, Gone with the Wind, Doctor Zhivago, Casablanca, and From Here to Eternity, available to view on the airline’s IFE, there are unique food options.
Mini red velvet cakes and brownies will be offered to take away in all cabins, including the recently reopened Airbus A380 lounge. These are complemented by additional love-themed provisions in the form of carefully curated music playlists from the likes of Lionel Richie, Michael Bublé, UB40, Céline Dion, and Al Green.
There are also plenty of treats at the airport. Emirates stated the following about its offerings across the passenger journey.
“On ground, First and Business Class customers and eligible Emirates Skywards frequent flyers, can enjoy a range of Valentine’s Day inspired desserts such as chocolate hearts, heart-shaped mud cake, chocolate-covered strawberries with coconut, and orange ginger panna cotta with berries and pistachios. These variety of treats will be available in the 19* dedicated Emirates lounges already re-opened across its network, as well as its signature Emirates Lounges in Dubai airport. All lounges serve a range of complimentary premium drinks. At Emirates’ Lounges in Dubai, this includes limited quantities of the beautiful Moet and Chandon Rosé specially selected for Valentine’s Day, and other exclusive vintages through the year, made possible by the airline’s long-standing partnership with Moet.”
It’s not only on-the-day provisions that Emirates is promoting this Valentine’s Day. It has been offering 25% savings on regular fares when flying with a special travel buddy amid the romantic festivities. It is joined by the likes of Etihad and Qatar Airways as other Middle Eastern carriers that are offering attractive sales.
Airlines all across the continents are promoting discounts. In Canada, WestJet, Swoop, and Flair are included in the carriers that announced discount codes on their websites. There are have also been low fares in the United States. The likes of Southwest Airlines are offering tickets for as low as $59. Across the Pacific, Malaysia Airlines is highlighting Valentine’s Day deals amid the reopening of its country’s borders.
Carriers have another crucial role to play in the lead-up to Valentine’s Day. Presents and flowers go through a thought-out distribution process ahead of the occasion.
Altogether, we’ve seen countless romantic travel getaways get canceled over the last few years due to the pandemic. There will be plenty of couples looking to finally get in the air and get married, go on a honeymoon, celebrate their anniversary, or just take a trip together. So, airlines will be keen to show their presence on this special day.
