Volotea airline announced plans to expand in Greece with 8 new routes and strong growth plans for 2023.
Specifically, this year Volotea will launch eight new routes to France, Italy and Spain from key Greek airports: two routes from Athens to Toulouse and Cagliari, two routes from Santorini to Bilbao and Palermo, one route from Heraklion to Bordeaux, one from Rhodes to Nantes, one from Kalamata to Nantes and one from Karpathos to Naples.
The most important part of the airline’s activities concerns Athens airport, from where it intends to offer 17 destinations and increase the number of seats offered by 33% in 2023.
Volotea, which launched its Athens Base in 2018 with two aircraft (Airbus 319 with 156 seats each), is also the fastest growing airline at Athens International Airport thanks to the 3,800 flights currently available, representing a 23% increase in operations compared to 2022.
Carlos Muñoz, CEO and founder of Volotea, said: “According to our plans for this year, it seems that our growth trajectory is higher than ever, as we remain true to our commitment to further expand our European network, with Greece being a key part of our strategy.
We are particularly proud of our partnership with AEGEAN, the largest Greek airline, with whom we share the same values and priorities. We look forward to continuing our cooperation, remaining true to our mutual commitment to offer excellent service and expanded connectivity at competitive prices.”
