Fraport Greece’s annual figures for 2022 show “take-off”, as a result of the record passenger traffic.
Last year, the company, which operates 14 regional airports in Greece, handled 31.19 million passengers, up 3.4% from 30.16 million in 2019.
Compared to 2021, the increase was 79%, as 17.42 million passengers were handled in 2021
International traffic in 2022 amounted to 24.92 million, compared to 23.25 million in 2019, an increase of 7.2%. On the other hand, domestic traffic stood at 6.27 million, compared to 6.90 million in 2019, a decrease of 9.2%.
The record performance in passenger traffic pushed the company’s revenue to 443.8 million compared to 255.4 million in 2021, an increase of 73.8%.
Correspondingly, EBITDA rose to 271.7 million vs. 206.4 million in 2021 and EBIT to 208.5 million vs. 144 million in 2021, while net profit was 69.9 million vs. 24.7 million in 2021.
In fact, as stated in the financial statements of the parent company, Fraport AG, Fraport Greece (65% owned by Fraport AG) is to distribute a dividend for the first time.
It should be noted that the concession of the 14 regional airports to Fraport Greece started in 2017 and will be completed in 2057.
In terms of performance at the group level, Fraport AG last year reported revenues of 3.19 billion and a net profit of 166.6 million euros.
Dr. Stefan Schulte, CEO of Fraport AG, commenting on the financial results for 2022, said, among other things:
“We are moving in the right direction. In the past fiscal year, we saw particularly strong demand for air travel. Our group airports around the world benefited from this trend.
While demand was still limited at the beginning of last year, the number of passengers in Frankfurt saw a rapid increase of up to 300% from April onwards.”
